We’re here friends, a week into 2019 with our brand new list of goals, intentions, resolutions, and maybe even a word, mantra or verse we’ve chosen. I hope it’s treated you well and you’re off to a great start!Trust me when I say that I love a new goal or dream just an much as the next gal, but as your aspiring guest writer bff, can I be so bold as to ask you not to leave behind your unfinished 2018 goals, dreams, and words?Maybe they didn’t pan out like you expected or maybe there were some unexpected life events that caused them to be pushed aside -- and that’s okay! I’m just simply here to remind you (okay, maybe nudge you a bit) that they don’t have to be left behind just because they weren’t completed in the previous year.If you’ve had any past goals or dreams that have resurfaced as you’ve been chasing your new ones, I encourage you to validate them before you quickly dismiss them.Repeat this with me: I am not a failure because I did not finish, I am a faithful fighter who believes that God has grace for all things and good things in store for me.Our God is a God of great encouragement. He is a God of grace for the areas of your life that were left unfinished. He is the author and creator of our dreams. And, as a God who can breathe new life into forgotten and unfinished things, He can do just that with our dreams and goals no matter how long we’ve neglected them. Before we part ways today, let’s pray this together: Jesus, thank you for the dreams and goals You’ve breathed into my heart, this year and last. I know some were left unfinished and abandoned, and I want to take this moment to offer those to You. As I lay them down at your feet, I pray that you cover them with Your grace and give me the courage to bring them into 2019 where I ask for Your strength to finish them well. Amen.
