Daily Delight

In a season where all things should be "Holly and Jolly" and "Merry and Bright", the reality is, sometimes it just doesn't feel that way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀For the last few years, my Christmas traditions have looked anything but traditional. I settled into a life of consistency and comfort, and things were going just as I had prepared. That was, until the tinsel untangled right before my eyes and I was left feeling pain and void instead of peace and joy. The enemy had a plan. But so did God.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I'm reminded of the words that the apostle Peter spoke in 1 Peter 1:6-9: “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀We don't always understand what God's purpose is in our pain, but when we trust in Him, we have the assurance that His promises will come to pass.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Maybe you're having a bad day or maybe even a bad year, but it's not a bad life. What I hope you know is this: Don't let the overwhelm of one season overshadow the beauty of the many seasons to come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀So, what does this mean for us right now?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀As the days change, the months go by and Christmas rolls back around, it’s easy to find ourselves feeling as if we are missing out. We think back on festivities that once were and parties that are no more, and we are quick to think life really isn't that fair. And as long as we live in this broken world, well, things will break...plans, hearts, even Christmas traditions.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀But listen close sister: Our confidence isn't in the ways of the world, but in the hope of the Healer; and He doesn't only heal, He makes all things new! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Let God's words settle your heart this Christmas.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Let His presence be your present this Holiday season. ⠀⠀
