Daily Delight
I recently read a popular book that I thought was going to change my life. I could feel it.
The dreams I had in my heart began to stir. The excitement was palpable. I woke with vigor each morning, writing out my dreams in my journal. I would look at them and think, "I am going to accomplish these great things!"
I jumped in and started a blog, a mom’s group and I even outlined writing a book. I listened to podcasts, bought business books, took online courses- you name it. I was on fire and success was in my sights. It was awesome.
Then, it wasn’t. It got harder to get up and physically write those dreams down. I felt so empty. Unfulfilled. Each night I would go to sleep thinking about what I was doing wrong. Why were these dreams and goals not beginning to play out?
On social media, I was seeing amazing women killing it in their game. Entrepreneurs, mom bosses, extraordinary writers and creatives doing incredible work. Why wasn’t I? In a moment of clarity, I saw it. Those dreams were about me. I humbled myself before God, asking for forgiveness. Then I heard Him speak so clearly…"You have the dreams you prayed for."
Yes! I am living now in what I begged God for! After losing our first baby, I prayed to God to make me a mom. It is my dream come to fruition.
"The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him." -Lamentations 3:25 (NIV)
I did not genuinely seek the will of God on these new dreams. I jumped before I really prayed, before I asked God to confirm what was on my heart, before listening to what He was saying. I jumped into something God was not calling me to now. In this season, He's asking me to steward well what He has given me.
God tells us to seek Him first in each season we are in. (Matthew 6:33) Doing so keeps us on the path He has laid out for us. It aligns our hearts with His.Sister, let Him guide you and fulfill the desires of your heart in His way- the best way.
