Daily Delight
I love God, but sometimes I don't act like it.I need to hear God speak into my life, but I haven’t caught up on social media today.I want to seek the will of God in my life, but I really need a good night out.
I’ve done it, you’ve done it. Setting out with the best of intentions, we let one word derail us from what we truly need. Do we really love God? Do we honestly want to hear God speak into our lives? Are we fully vested in God’s will for us? If the answer is a genuine ‘yes’, we need God’s holy discipline to transform our narrative removing the ‘but’ from our thoughts and actions.
Sisters, God is asking for our whole mind, heart and devotion.
I love God, so I’m going to elevate my thoughts to higher places.I need to hear God speak into my life, so I’m going to sit and quiet myself in His presence.I want to seek the will of God in my life, so I am going to find it in His word only.
Fully pressing into God means disciplining our heart and mind to seek His will, therefore allowing us to see Him more and more at work in our lives. Dropping the excuses, forgoing what others are doing and focusing on Him brings about our flourishing. Yes, flourishing! We do not serve an angry God. We serve a grace giving, love abounding Father who wants to see us live freely in His will as He pours out His abundance upon us. God’s holy discipline for our mind and heart is not meant to hurt us. It is meant to transform us from the inside out. Hebrews 12:10-11 tells us we are disciplined ‘in order that we may share in His holiness’ and although sometimes hard, it leads to ‘righteousness and peace’ (NIV).
What is holding you back from God today? What are you holding on to that is keeping you from allowing His discipline to alter every part of your life? Proverbs 3:12 (Message) says ‘it’s the child He loves that God corrects, a Father’s delight is behind all this’.
You, child of God, are who He loves and delights in. Let nothing hold you back from Him today. There is nothing greater than His love.
