Daily Delight
I'll confess to you I’m the broken-back camel, final straw kind of fed up with Satan lying to me and to the ones I love. And I’ve really had enough of letting him!Think of this: a convict was released from imprisonment, pardoned and freed from bondage yet wears handcuffs daily and has bunking parties in his jail cell. As absurd as that would be, it’s equally so to live in the very bondage Jesus freed me from in full. His final words were not “This might be enough.” No, He bore the world's sins and wrath of God with the final words, “It is finished.” And it is.I can’t let Satan win battles and forget he’s already lost the war. Jesus came to set me free of any stumbling block the enemy wishes to bind me with. Days when I feel devalued in friendship, unfulfilled at work, bogged down with finances, anxious to please others or ___, I have to look beyond circumstance and see the culprit. The friend that seems distant, job that feels purposeless, account that seems scarce, people I can’t measure up to are no more the problem than they are the solution to worth and satisfaction. Digging deep and asking hard questions might just find the bitter root. The fight is not against that hurtful friend, unloving family member, devaluing guy, or whoever in your life you feel so wounded by. And, too, the fight is not against yourself. Rather it's the one who seeks to steal joy, kill relationships and destroy minds. Unmasking insecure emotions reveals the true enemy: the father of lies. When Satan says you’re not enough, know you are chosen. When he says you’re broken beyond repair, know you are redeemed. When he says you serve no purpose, know there’s a God who has a will full of worth for you. If you’re bogged down in chains that were never yours to break, inhale a breath of your God-given freedom and let Satan know it is finished!
“It is FOR FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and DO NOT let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery.” -Galatians 5:1 (emphasis added)
