Please prepare for today’s devotional by reading the story of Gideon found in Judges 6.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀God granted Gideon’s request for a sign each time, even though He did not have to. But it is not until the fourth sign that Gideon worships. (Judges 7) Yes, Gideon tested God a total of four times and, although He did not have to, God delivered each time. This provided Gideon with great and lasting comfort.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀So, why do we not have signs today? Or a guardian angel on our nightstand that gives us signs and tells us the will of God? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Because there is no hidden will of God. You have it between two covers, and it’s probably sitting on your nightstand.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Because now we have the Bible—sixty-six books that prove God is who He says He is—and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Do you want a sign? Read your Bible. Do you want to hear God speak? Read your Bible aloud!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀In the Bible, we know what the will of God is for our lives. We see this in many passages of Scripture, but here are two for you to reflect on today in addition to Colossians 3:16 (pictured below):⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through him.” -Colossians 3:17 (ESV)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“Rejoice, always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀If these things characterize our lives, we will make decisions that are in accordance with the will of God. He will bless us with peace and assurance and there will be no need to ask for signs or fleeces.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Be a woman of God who asks herself, “Why do I need to put the Lord my God to the test when I have an entire book that is shouting at me that He is who He says He is?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Be a woman of God who reads her Bible, studies theology and understands it, and lives in light of His truth.
