Romans 8:38-39 is one of the most eloquent and encouraging passages in the New Testament. When I read the words, I can almost feel God heaping His love on my shoulders! His love for us is so deep. Notice the verses do not insert a caveat to God’s love for us. He does not love us only when we succeed or only when we make good, moral decisions. He loves us. Period. NOTHING can separate us from His love!Good works, good behavior, or even success do not earn us the love that God explains in Romans. When we view His love as something to be earned, we’ve got it backwards! God loved us first. And because He loves us, we can do good works, make good choices, and find victory in our lives.
Sister, do not hold God’s love hostage from yourself.Do not let His love be the prisoner you release when you finally “pay up” by doing enough good works. His love is bigger than that. As it says in Romans, “...but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, ESV).God’s love for you has already been solidified because Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Rest in His love.If you have trouble believing that God loves you from the top of your head to the tips of your toes, then please pray with me! God wrote in His Word how much He loves you -- and since He wrote it, He wants you to believe it! Let’s pray.Father, for my sisters in Christ who struggle with accepting Your love, I pray You would remind them of the sacrifice Jesus made for them. Please make Your love vividly alive in their lives today and every day. When they struggle to accept Your love, remind them of Your words of love in the Bible. Thank You for Your love -- Your marvelous, inseparable, matchless love! Amen.
