Daily Delight
Sometimes I feel uncomfortable with the praise people give me for certain achievements or areas in my life I succeed in. My genuine answer is, “It’s not me, it’s all God!” And while I truly mean this, I feel like I need to convince people that it really isn’t anything I am or have achieved in my own strength; that it all comes from His grace and His goodness. I know what little ol’ me is really like, and I feel so far from a victor and conqueror within myself. I never want my outward success and thriving in areas of life to make others feel inadequate about themselves and where they’re at. Instead, the cry of my heart is that people would know and understand that it’s definitely not me, but all Him. He empowers me, He strengthens me, He overcomes, He gives me the grace and mercy needed in the moment. I can’t take credit for the triumph that He has produced.True humility and purity of heart comes from a place of surrender. When our hearts are sincerely laid on the alter—all of our success, our fleshly strength, our natural ability, our supernatural gifts, everything—then God can take us and use us. We only have victory in this life because of His ultimate victory. We can only reign because He reigns. We are strong by His strength. In and of myself I am nothing, but with Him, I am everything! And the beautiful thing is that His grace and love is available in exact measure to every single one of us. When we see someone thriving in life in an area we’re struggling in, we don’t need to get discouraged or depressed at where we’re not, but be inspired and encouraged because that same success is available to us all, equally.I can relate to Paul when he says “Yet we don’t see ourselves as capable enough to do anything in our own strength, for our true competence flows from God’s empowering presence” (2 Cor 3:5, TPT). The more we pursue Him, the more He bestows upon us. It’s not our purpose as we seek Him, but it’s a byproduct of knowing Him intimately. He empowers. He strengthens. He causes us to thrive and reign in life. Why? Because when He uses humble vessels like us, it brings Him all the glory. He is glorified in our weakness!
