Daily Delight
How often do we cry out to God to deliver us from a situation, painful experience, unwanted circumstance or any prayer request really…yet we find ourselves constantly returning to the same predicament? We lay it all at His feet one minute, then later realize we’ve gone back and picked up all the baggage and heavy burdens again.Psalm 45:10 (TPT) says “Now listen, daughter, pay attention and forget about your past. Put behind you every attachment to the familiar, even those who were once close to you.” Wow! What an ask! When God led me to this recently I was impacted instantly. This verse is so simple, yet so profound. So easy, yet so difficult. If we long to move forward in healing, in relationships, in breakthrough, in release from strongholds and bondages, in faith, we really do have to ‘let go and let God.’ When we let go of the past, of the familiar, the comfortable, what we are used to, what we are holding onto, then God has an opportunity to sweep in and do what only He can do to answer our prayers and release us from our burdens. This verse is referring to the wedding of King Solomon to his Egyptian princess bride: it’s beckoning her to come out of her comfort, her culture, to leave her family and people behind, but to embrace something more magnificent than even the best she had…the most powerful king and strongest kingdom at the time!More than that, this verse is a prophetic glimpse of the ultimate Bridegroom, and He too is beckoning us to leave behind the old and to open our eyes to see the beauty and majesty of the greatest Kingdom on earth that He is calling us into as His beautiful Bride.Letting go can be difficult and painful, even when we desperately long to be released from the burden. If only we could realize the freedom, healing, grace, beauty and glory He has ready for us to experience once we truly let go of all that is holding us back, weighing us down and keeping us from gazing into the face of our greatest Lover and Bridegroom forever! What are you holding onto that you need to lay at His feet once and for all and finally walk in the freedom He has waiting for you?
