The Israelites waited 400 years for a Savior, the one Messiah that would fulfill their ancestors' prophecies and rescue their people. Can you imagine their emotions during this time? What joy it must have been on this day, many years ago, in the town of Bethlehem! For when Mary gave birth to a baby boy, others looked in amazement and wonder while she treasured and pondered this moment in her heart (Luke 2:19, NIV).

On this Christmas Day, what do you treasure? Is it presents, Hallmark movies, or twinkly lights on the tree? I must admit, I am guilty of the above. For me, it seems getting caught up in the festivities is an annual occurrence. If you, too, find yourself in a similar situation, I pray we can all strive to be like Mary. Instead of focusing on the tangible, may we dwell on the most important message of the season—redemption. Because of Christ’s birth, the Word became flesh, and every one of us was set free from sin.
Sweet sisters, we were given the most precious gift we could ever receive—eternal life. This year, let us seek first the Kingdom of God and rest in knowing He is our everlasting hope. Unlike those before us, we no longer have to wait for the Savior's first coming. He has already come to us, and we eagerly await His return! God sent His son, a baby in a manger, for you and for me. Treasure Him with all your heart. Come, let us adore Him!
