Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” -Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
Nine months ago, God told me to leave my job! I had no back up plan, direction, or any idea of what was next. He took me to this sacred place of trust like I have never experienced before. In those precious moments with Him, He called me to beautiful Nebraska, U.S.A. I spent four months over there, and felt Him in an almost tangible way.
Once I came back, I entered into the dreaded season of waiting. I felt distant, sad, and alone. My waiting took over me, and I struggled my way through the months.
Let’s look at the story of Noah. His wait wasn't just days or months, it was years. He was given very clear instructions of what God wanted him to do in his wait. Noah trusted God, rested in His promises, and because of that, lives were saved.
Before we were even born, God numbered our days and planned out our lives. When we rush ahead of the wonder He has for us, we can miss it and make a mess in the process.
Noah listened; he worked hard and built the ark. What a crazy request from God. But if he wasn’t faithful, everyone and everything would have been wiped out.
You see, sisters, in my instance, I was so fixated on the outcome of my wait that I didn't pay attention to the fact that God had already begun doing something beyond my wildest dreams (Ephesians 3:20). Count your blessings, lovely ones. It makes all the difference when waiting seems beyond tiresome.
What God does in the wait is preparation for what He has next. The ark was preparation for the flood. I get it, waiting sucks! But take heart, He is searching the depths of your soul; He is spending time with you now—shaping you, molding you, and teaching you beautiful truths for your next big season with Him. Don't miss it because you are focused elsewhere. Everything has purpose and plays a part in His divine plan for you, regardless if you can understand it or not.
