A storm can be scary. Intense. Questionable. How long will it last? How bad will it get? We can seek shelter to keep safe during a storm, but what about afterwards? Sometimes the after effects can be so bad, leaving us to feel hopeless as we try to clean up the damages it leaves behind.

Have you ever experienced a storm like this? What about a storm of life? You may even be going through one right now feeling full of fear and doubt. Or maybe you have just come out of one and you are experiencing feelings of hopelessness. The storm has finally passed, but you feel drained and exhausted. Damaged. Broken.
I am here to tell you my sister that God is with you. He was with you before the storm brewed. He is with you in the midst of the storm. And He is/will be with you long after the calm of the storm. You see, in Christ we can hold onto the promise of God’s assuring word that “all things work together for the Good of those who love Him according to His purpose,” (Romans 8:28). Sometimes in the midst of a storm, we are blinded by our fear and doubt. We fill our minds with questions that fuel our doubt such as “Why is this happening?” or “How much worse can it get?”.

Doubt and fear can be toxic in our walk with Christ. When we are walking closely with Jesus, He fuels our confidence that He has everything under control. "For the Lord goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Therefore do not fear or be dismayed.” -Deuteronomy 31:8

When a storm is brewing before your very eyes, seek shelter in the word of God. Let Him deliver you from your fears. Trust the steps He has for your life, no matter your plans. It may be going a lot differently than you imagined it, but God knows exactly what He is doing. He may just be sending a storm your way, so that He can rescue you from being wrecked.
