Daily Delight

Yesterday, during an overwhelming day at work, I had an image. It was an image of myself walking to the door of my work place as Jesus was coming after me. The image proceeded with me opening the door, in a hurry, and letting it shut before Christ (the Son of God, advocate of my eternal life, my greatest teacher and revealer of the needs of others) could enter with me.I do not consciously choose to “shut” God out of my work place. It feels natural to fall into step with the busy work day, become surrounded by drama, succumb to a belief that I am of great importance one day (or of no importance the next day), and then count the hours until it’s all over. Oh, how I am convicted by my image. How easy I forget that my workplace is not about me. As contrary to this world as it may seem, our place of work is about so much more than what we desperately think we need to get from it: money, perks, an identity, recognition and control. Our workplace is our mission field. It is but one of the places, perhaps one of the most important, in which God gives us the opportunity to take part in good works (Ephesians 2:10) with the help of the Holy Spirit and Christ as our example. Viewing our workplace as our mission field takes the importance out of where we are on the ladder of our careers and puts it on the divine position that God has placed us in. A position in which we have the opportunity to be a vessel of the Kingdom of God at our computer desks, cubicles, stretchers, break rooms, ambulances, the janitorial closet, the moment after declaring time of death, the moment when a new life has begun, and the moments around our kitchen counters as we speak life into our families.  At work, we are on mission field and that should give us courage to press into the hard times in our workplaces and keep in step with the Holy Spirit. Our paycheck, or a completed task list, are not the ultimate rewards.God, do not let us forget You at the door of our work place (the mission field). Amen.

Shauni MacLean

Meet Shauni MacLean, a native of Washington State and a wife of nearly nine years to the only guy (besides her dad) who saw a light in her. Shauni and her husband are parents to two little treasures, Lilly and Molly. She is 31 years old, and aside from wife-life, mama-life and writing, she is a registered nurse in the field of pediatrics.

After receiving God’s comfort and revelation through inner trials over the last seven years, Shauni has been led to be uncomfortably vulnerable with her past and current struggles, as well as the Kingdom of God triumph that follows, so that other women can be encouraged. When Shauni writes, she is thinking of the women that need to know that we are all in the same fight that will lead to victory.

You can be encouraged on your journey as a wife and relate with Shauni on her blog.
