ESV Illuminated Bible
Please note: I received a free Bible from Crossway in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.-Elle Cardel, Daughter of Delight Founder
The first time I spotted the ESV Illuminated Bible my jaw dropped. Just look at it- it's stunning! Each of the designs spread throughout it hold meaning relevant to the theme of each book. Not only will you find a design for each new book introduction, but you'll also find beautiful designs spread throughout its pages as well. You will also find space for notes and lettering of your own, if you so desire. I will say that the pages are quite thin, so I'm a little nervous to take a pen to them.Something else to consider is that this particular Bible is a hefty one. It's great for your morning quiet time and keeping it on your coffee table. But, if you are in need of something to take to church or to a Bible study with your girls, I wouldn't recommend it. In addition, there are no cross-references or footnotes and there is not a concordance. If this is something that is important to you in your Bible reading, I would not recommend it.I really enjoy the ESV translation (it's actually my favorite), so I am especially enjoying this Bible. If you're looking to give a new translation a try, I highly recommend ESV- even if it's not this particular Bible. If you are unfamiliar with the ESV translation, it emphasizes word-for-word accuracy, literary excellence, and depth of meaning. The way Crossway's ESV Illuminated Bible is designed really does help bring the Word of God to life all the more. It may not be a great study Bible per say, but its beautifully done designs will certainly aid you as you reflect and meditate on His Word!
