This Tuesday seems “final” for quite a few reasons. Two of them being the fact that this is the final Tuesday I write for Daughter of Delight and the final Tuesday in 2020!

Jesus is Life

Sweet sister in Christ, I have spent quite some time thinking about the message to leave you with and I must admit, I keep hearing, “simply point them to Jesus.” Given the fact that He should be the center of our thoughts, conversations, affections, and actions, there is truly no message without Him. Christ Jesus is our life! (Colossians 3:4) We can never meditate upon Him, speak about Him or work for Him too much!

Colossians 3:2 tells us, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (ESV). I know with the New Year rolling in many will be focused on “New Year themed” messages but there is no new anything without Jesus! More than that, everything is sustained by Him. “And He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17, ESV).

Focus on the Son

Remember, Jesus is the Father’s Beloved and so too should He be uniquely loved by us. Our communion with the Father begins with and should focus upon the Son. This fellowship with the Father is based upon the commonality or likeness of our affections for Jesus. The sweetest of time spent with Him is in our reflecting and agreeing upon the beauty of Christ. Looking at the Son as He is revealed in His Word and sounding our heart’s accord. The more this naturally becomes our pattern of communion, the more we will be conformed into the image of Christ.

Reflect the Son

We, as Daughters of Delight, are to reflect God’s image and in doing so we glorify Him. My challenge for you today and throughout all the New Year’s to come is this – bear the image of Christ by God’s grace. Imagine coming across a mirror that’s rarely ever clean. What sense would it make to ever use it? When people encounter us, will they have a hard time peering through and seeing the Jesus we reflect, or will they see a neglected mirror that needs cleaning?
