Seek the True Light

In a world where divisiveness permeates the culture, now more than ever is the time to be a different kind of woman.

A woman who is the peacemaker and not the peace breaker. Matthew 5:14-16 tells us, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (NIV).

It is easy to lose heart when everything around us indicates that darkness is prevailing. Let us not forget that, in Christ, our light makes us a unique counter-cultural woman who doesn't get entangled in the world's ways and how it reacts.

Sister, we have the privilege of being ambassadors of the Lord, which comes with great responsibility. We are official representatives of Christ! Our ambassadorship doesn't extend only to people who agree with us or we approve of, but to everyone we come across. Even with those who persecute or ridicule our values and beliefs. we are to reflect the light of Jesus to them. We may be tempted in our flesh to retaliate, but Psalm 34:14 tells us to, "Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it" (NIV).

To pursue peace, we must seek the true light...Jesus. The more we consume Jesus, learn about His character, and apply His principles in our life, the more we shine and glorify Him. Colossians 4:5 warns us to, "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity" (NIV). Being a peacemaker requires wisdom to recognize the opportunities God puts in front of us. We must ask ourselves, are we so afraid to interact with what we are uncomfortable with that we lose our chance to be that different kind of woman and be the hands and feet of Jesus?

Every small gesture matters to the Kingdom of God. Don't hide what the Lord has lit within you!
