The Goodness of Our Great God
From start to finish, we see God’s timing in sweet perfection throughout the Bible, as well as man’s perception of it, an innate desire to take that timing into our own hands.
Let Us Not Grow Weary
My all-time favorite verse, one that has deeply encouraged me day-by-day in different ways, is one that shares that same sentiment- Galatians 6:9. It says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (ESV).
Not growing weary in the waiting, the trials, the suffering, is something that proves to be more difficult than I ever thought. The year has been marked by grief, deep loss, health issues, and unmet expectations, which has often left me wondering where God is in the midst of it all.
Sister, I know I am not the only one with these same thoughts and experiences this year. And I know it can be so difficult to face the day sometimes when it’s been daily waiting on God in the dire circumstances. It can be so easy to grow weary, throw in the towel, and say “God, this is too much, even for me... I can’t face another doctor’s visit, homeschool lesson, layoff, miscarriage, drastic change in plans…”
The Goodness of Our Great God
But, God is so good, even in the grief, the loss, the deep uncertainty. The Spirit-filled words of Paul in Galatians 6:9 start off with something that seems like a near-impossible request: “do not grow weary.” But here’s the best part: “in due season we will reap, if we do not give up,” because God’s timing is never early, never late, but always perfectly and divinely on time. God equips us with what we need, when we seek Him, to run this race with endurance. God knows how much we can handle, and yes, He will give us more than we can bear sometimes. It is when we come to the end of ourselves and realize we can’t do this without our Father, that we can truly surrender it all at His feet.
In due season, in His perfect and divine timing, we will see Him move. He uses all things for good, and this year is no different. For His glory, and our good. Savor the goodness of our great God, my dear sister. He's got you, every step of the way.
